Roger Matthews is a life-long resident of the Pittsburgh area, having attended Penn State University, majoring in Business Administration, and later graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, earning the degree of Juris Doctor in 1973.
After being licensed in 1973, Mr. Matthews worked for the Consolidation Coal Company, the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company, J&L Steel Corporation and the LTV Steel Corporation in the areas of personnel and benefits administration, labor relations and labor law. During that period of time, he gained experience primarily in handling employment related litigation and labor arbitration.
In 1985, LTV Steel Corporation moved its headquarters to Cleveland, Ohio and Mr. Matthews began his career in private practice with the firm of Metz, Cook, Welsh, Bluestone and Beamer. His areas of practice initially centered on litigation, collection work, family law and labor related issues.
In 1986, Mr. Matthews became affiliated with the law firm of Reding, Rea and Cooper, P.C. in Pittsburgh which represented several area franchisors of fast food services. He continued to do family law, collection, litigation and began doing franchise related work. During this period of time, he also began to represent several condominium and homeowners associations, building contractors and temporary personnel agencies. He left Reding, Rea and Cooper, P.C. in 2000 to join Lawton and Kristen Stokes to form the firm of Matthews & Stokes, PC located in Wexford. At that firm, he continued in many of his former areas of practice and began representing clients in commercial and residential real estate transactions and real estate related litigation.
Mr. Matthews is a current resident of the Wexford area and is married to Margie Matthews who is a realtor in the North Pittsburgh area.
